Raymond, Maine — Materials & Process

Every decision in how the Loon is made was made deliberately. The materials were chosen because nothing else met the standard. The construction methods were chosen because they last. This is what that looks like in practice.

01 — Material

Marine-grade PVC

We spec'd the same PVC grade used in open-water maritime buoys. 0.30mm gauge — UV-stable, chlorine-resistant, colour-fast across hours of direct sun.

02 — Construction

Heat-welded seams

Every junction where two panels meet is heat-welded. Not glued. Not stitched. The bond is stronger than the PVC panel on either side of it.

Air-leak tested

A float that sits on the lake all afternoon should hold its air. Ours is air-leak tested.

Pressure Retention · Outdoor Durability

Lab Tested Material

Samples of the PVC film were screened by an independent lab for restricted substances, including REACH SVHC substances, restricted phthalates, and lead and cadmium. None were detected in the samples tested.
